The tailored suits still stream from glass towers into black cars. The conversations still touch on market adjustments and projections. But watch closely, and you’ll notice the strain. There’s a tightness around the eyes now, a rehearsed quality to the optimism. The numbers on their screens say one thing. The price of milk, rent, and diesel say another. We’ve built an elaborate choreography around the idea that currency holds its value. Yet somewhere between 2019 and now, that assumption quietly fractured. A dollar doesn’t travel as far as it once did. It buys less bread, less time, less security. Central bankers have their explanations ready-inflation is transitory, supply chains are healing, the economy is resilient. But walk through a supermarket in Stuttgart, a gas station in Phoenix, a pharmacy in Manchester, and you’ll feel the truth your paycheck already knows. The purchasing power hasn’t just eroded; it’s evaporated, and official metrics barely capture the half of it. The arithmetic is brutal when you look at it directly. Global debt has climbed to roughly $315 trillion. That’s not a percentage point on a chart. That’s a claim on future labor so vast it would take several generations working at full capacity just to service the interest, never mind the principal. In Washington, the federal government now borrows about $5 billion every twenty-four hours to keep the lights on. Weekends included. No holidays. The interest alone will swallow roughly $2 trillion this fiscal year. That’s more than the entire defense budget. More than all discretionary spending combined. These figures come from the Treasury Department itself, buried in reports that few bother to read. Since 2008, and with terrifying acceleration during the pandemic years, monetary expansion has become the silent thief in everyone’s pocket.

Death by Doctor’ Is Going Global but is not painless, peaceful or dignified – on the contrary, despite the lies of its supporters doctor assisted dying’ is frequently painful and distressing for patients and relatives.
The approved mass slaughter of the disabled, the poor, the frail, the old, the unemployed and the unwanted is, with quiet certainty and to the eternal shame of politicians, becoming global. It is part of the Great Reset and it is an essential part of the depopulation programme. They call it doctor assisted suicide and it’s already available in a number of countries (notably and with most seemingly uncensored enthusiasm in Canada and Holland) but the concept of death by doctor is spreading fast, and like everything else bad that is happening it is global. Opposing this sinister, contemptible and malevolent new movement is one of the most difficult challenges we face in the years ahead. Voluntary euthanasia aka assisted dying aka ‘death by doctor’ really began in earnest in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg at the start of the 21st century. (Switzerland has allowed assisted suicide since 1942, but only in a vague sort of way in that helping someone kill themselves is legal if the person helping does not have selfish motives.) After Belgium and Holland allowed death by doctor there was a hiatus of several years and then came a sudden and seemingly inexplicable explosion in the number of countries succumbing to pressure and introducing similar schemes of their own. (The explosion was inexplicable only to those who do not realise that ‘death by doctor’ is an essential part of the Great Reset.) Euthanasia was legalised in Canada in 2016. In Spain in 2021, Austria in 2022, in Portugal in 2023, in Colombia in 2022, in Cuba in 2023, in Ecuador in 2024, in Australia in 2025, in New Zealand in 2021, in Jersey in 2026, in Uruguay in 2025, in France in 2026 and in recent years in 13 states in the USA. Legislation is being drafted in Germany and Italy. In Britain, the pro-euthanasia supporters have for years been pushing hard for new legislation in Britain – for legislation which would undoubtedly legalise the mass murder of the weak and the innocent.

Recognising and removing the causes of common evil
The evil of modern society is so prevalent that even atheists and progressives can no longer ignore it. Our economies foster and monetise dependency and addiction, and the global agenda of the liberal regimes amounts to a total war on our civilisation, often partnered with the waging of wars abroad. That we are ruled into chaos by the wicked is a fact which unites an increasing number of people in the formerly free world. How did Christendom fall so fast – into a state in which it is legal to buy and sell AI-edited babies? The worship of technology is producing a nightmarish vision of hell on earth – governed by algorithm – whilst the artificial means of the production of human life promise to replace mothers and the family. Today we consider how a remarkable letter from Leo XIII predicted the rottenness of the modern state we are in – and how his remedy – to restore all in Christ – would prove to be more urgent now than ever before. Before Pope Leo XIII wrote the nine encyclicals of the Catholic Social Teachings, he released an encyclical letter in 1878. Echoing the great victories at the siege of Malta, at Lepanto – and that of the first Pope Leo who turned back Attila the Hun from Rome, Inscrutabili speaks of “On the evils affecting modern society: their causes and remedies”. Pope Leo XIII does not endorse the reduction of human life to a component in global trade1. He does not recommend the dismantling of industrial civilisation. Nor does he celebrate the acceptance of mortal sin in the lives of those so given to it that their identities are secured in their disordered sexual behaviour. Leo XIII reminds us of the duty of the Pope – to condemn the defection from the teachings of the Catholic Church, founded by Christ Himself – and to warn men of the damnation they face here and in eternity in their dedication instead to sin.
