The immorality of what we are doing is beyond unconscionable, yet through the many decades of unending propaganda most now seem to feel little or no remorse about it.
Abortion not only murders the fetus that has no say in the matter, but also does lasting and significant psychological harm to the mother, and almost always to the father too. Thou shalt not kill. Is there something people don’t understand about this Commandment? We should never support government-sanctioned killing, whether it is abortion, capital punishment, or being drafted into a war to kill your fellow human in a war of aggression, to steal resources, and enslave others into cheap labor and usury.
There have been close to 70,000,000 abortions in the United States since the despicable Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision on Monday, January 22, 1973, that approved this horrendously gruesome and genocidal mass murder, called infanticide. Our solemn pledge is that we will do everything to raise the collective consciousness so that this barbaric atrocity will finally end.
Now we’ve added two new satanic lows to this egregious and horrific act of abortion. Planned Parenthood has repeatedly been caught selling baby parts from the abortions they provide, and nine states and the District of Columbia do not restrict abortion based on gestational duration.

The Jewish Racket Known As The Right To Life Movement

Ben Shapiro gave the keynote address to Right to Life Michiana on Thursday October 27 in South Bend, Indiana, a town which has been a stronghold of anti-abortion sentiment since before the Supreme Court handed down Roe v. Wade in 1973. With the overturning of Roe in June of 2022, a sense of satisfaction at having won a long-fought battle emanated from the crowd, mingled with a sense that the war wasn’t over, as the battle over unborn life shifted from the Supreme Court to state legislatures. Shapiro addressed neither the sense of triumph nor the sense of trepidation in the crowd which filled the largest auditorium in town. His speech was long on pointless refutations of arguments in favor of abortion. The arguments were pointless because anyone with a modicum of intelligence could have refuted them handily, but more importantly because everyone in the hall was a convinced prolifer, and many had been laboring in the anti-abortion trenches from before he was born. The speech was also long on heartwarming anecdotes about his family, his wife and her objection to his beard, and other interesting but irrelevant points, which the audience lapped up nonetheless.
Missing from his speech, however, was any mention of the most significant development in prolife politics since Roe was overturned this past spring, namely, the claim by 140 Jewish organizations that abortion is a “fundamental Jewish value.” All of the major players in the pro-abortion propaganda barrage which began in New York during the late 1960s were Jewish, but this fact was never mentioned in the New York Times. The Jewish paper of record which also served as the main conduit for pro-abortion propaganda in America referred to Bernard Nathanson, who along with Lawrence Lader was the main spokesman for abortion in America at that time, as a gynecologist as if he were a scientist with no ethnic dog in this fight. The only ethnic dog which got identified was the Catholic Church, and more specifically the Catholic bishops, who were accused of imposing their religious views on everyone else whenever they defended the rights of the unborn. Because Nathanson and Lader were never identified as Jews, Jews were never identified as the main group promoting abortion.

Sources and methods: Definition: An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced. Abortion as a term most commonly – and in the statistics presented here – refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarriages. “This year” refers to the period from Jan 1 at 00:00 up to now. The data on abortions displayed on the Worldometer’s counter is based on the latest estimates on worldwide abortions published by various sources, including the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, every year in the world there are around 73 million induced abortions. This corresponds to approximately 200,000 abortions per day. In the USA, where nearly 30% of pregnancies are unintended and 40% of these are terminated by abortion, there are between 1,500 to 2,500 abortions per day. Abortion has topped several infectious diseases as the world’s leading cause of death for at least the fifth year in a row, even though multiple abortion restrictions have gone into place at the state level following the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. Statistics compiled by Worldometer, a database that tracks quantitative data on health, the global population and other metrics in real-time, show that more than 44.6 million abortions were performed worldwide in 2023. The last available snapshot of Worldometer from 2023, captured by the Internet Archive Wayback Machine by December 31, shows that the number of abortions performed last year exceeds the combined number of casualties caused by the other leading causes of death listed. The second leading cause of death worldwide, communicable diseases, took the lives of over 12.9 million people last year. Cancer was attributed to more than 8.2 million deaths, while smoking contributed to the deaths of over 4.9 million people. The Worldometer measured the total deaths in 2023 as more than 60.6 million. However, that figure does not include abortion as a form of death. If abortions were counted as deaths in the statistics, the fatalities last year would have exceeded 100 million, and abortions would have accounted for more than 40% of them. For the past two years, the approximately 44 million abortions performed worldwide enabled the procedure to surpass other causes of death worldwide.

Study Linking Abortion And Suicide Is A Clarion Call To Pro-Life Community
Women who had an abortion were twice as likely to attempt suicide compared to their peers, according to new research.
The study, published in the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology in January, was authored by David Reardon, director of the Elliot Institute and an associate scholar with the Charlotte Lozier Institute.
Reardon, who noted how previous studies have connected abortion to an elevated risk of suicide, aimed to challenge a widely held assumption within the pro-choice community that attributes the link between abortion and suicide solely to preexisting mental health conditions, viewing it as entirely incidental.
The new study implemented a topic blind survey-where participants are not told the specific topic or purpose in advance. The survey was distributed to 2,829 American females, 41-45?years of age, who were asked about any history of attempted suicide(s) and reproductive histories.
The research revealed that 34.7 percent of women with a history of abortion had attempted suicide, while women who had live births (and no history of abortion, pregnancy loss, or problematic pregnancies) had the lowest rate of attempted suicide (17.1%). Abortion, especially when it is contrary to the values and preferences of the pregnant women, may contribute to higher rates of suicide attempts, the study found.
Notably, the highest rate of attempted suicide (46.2%) was reported by women who felt coerced into an abortion that was in opposition to their own values and preferences. Conversely, the rate of attempted suicide among women whose abortions were wanted and consistent with their values and preferences (29.5%) was similar to that of women who reported a pregnancy loss and had no history of abortion (30.0%)

It was an unthinkable outcome for liberal Jewish activists, women especially, who for 50 years and more had regarded the right to an abortion as integral to their Jewish identity and political worldview. Before the decision came down, Jewish studies scholar Michal Raucher questioned long-held Jewish organizational views that justified abortion only on the narrowest of religious grounds without acknowledging that women “have the bodily autonomy to make that decision on their own.” Conversely, Avi Shafran of Agudath Israel of America welcomed the end of Roe on behalf of his haredi Orthodox organization, writing that the rabbis “who guide us indisputably hold that, absent extraordinary circumstances, terminating a pregnancy is a grave sin.” Responding to Shafran, Daphne Lazar Price, an Orthodox Jewish feminist, argued that even in her stringently religious community, getting an abortion is a “conscious choice by women to follow their religious convictions and maintain their human dignity.” According to Jewish sources, “the occult has always been an integral part of Judaism” – and so it only makes sense that the occult practice of ritual infanticide would also be “integral” to Jewish identity and their “religious convictions.” Shedding the blood of innocent children has always been a part of Judaism – it is how rabbis make a mockery of the crucifixion of Christ – and how they punish Christians for believing in the promised Messiah of Israel whom they utterly reject.

A recent Florida lawsuit seeks to apply a broad new claim by many Jewish groups that legal abortion is necessary for the practice of their religion.
In an apparent new strategy seeking to maintain the decriminalization of preborn child killing, a south Florida synagogue filed a lawsuit against the State of Florida’s new 15-week abortion ban arguing that it violates the “religious freedom” of Jews.
The L’Dor Va-Dor Congregation of Boynton Beach filed the complaint in Florida’s 2nd Circuit Court on June 10 seeking to impede the enforcement of HR 5, which was signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis on April 14 and goes into effect on July 1.
According to the filing, since Jewish law sometimes requires an abortion, the new Act impedes Jews from practicing their religion:
In Jewish law, abortion is required if necessary to protect the health, mental or physical well-being of the woman, or for many other reasons not permitted under the Act [HR 5]. As such, the Act prohibits Jewish women from practicing their faith free of government intrusion and thus violates their privacy rights and religious freedom.
The plaintiffs go on to assert that their congregants and others “who do not share the religious views reflected in the Act will suffer additional irreparable harm by having their religious freedom under the Florida Constitution violated.”
The lawsuit also declares that HR 5 “threatens the Jewish people by imposing the laws of other religions upon Jews.”
In recent years, the same general case has been made by professed Satanists, who have argued that any restriction to the killing of preborn children violates their religious beliefs. In 2015, the New York-based “Satanic Temple” filed a federal lawsuit against Missouri, claiming that state laws restricting abortion violate their “free exercise” of Satanism.
But according to Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, abortion is not a religious issue but rather has to be governed by scientific principles. “First of all, we’re talking about an action that is the killing an innocent human life.”

Study Finds 75% Of Women Treated At ERS After Taking Abortion Pills Rated ‘Severe Or Critical’
Women who visit emergency rooms after taking abortion pills are more likely to be seen for serious medical problems than their cohorts whose pregnancies end with surgical abortions or live births, according to newly released research. A peer-reviewed study of Medicaid-eligible women by researchers at the pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute found they were “significantly more likely to have a severe or critical acuity rating” within 30 days of using the two-drug abortion protocol than were other women seen at ERs. That includes women who had recently given birth; undergone surgical abortions or visited the emergency room for any reason, a finding based on 2004-15 data in the 17 states where Medicaid covers abortion expenses. Using the five-level Ambulatory Payment Classification System, the research found that ER visits coded at the most serious “severe or critical” levels increased as follows: no pregnancy, 101.0%; surgical abortion, 450.6%; abortion pill, 4041.1%, and live birth, 20.9%. By 2015, 75.7% of visits following abortion-pill usage were rated in the “severe or critical” categories versus 66.1% for surgical abortions; 56.6% for live births, and 54% for no pregnancy.

Since the publication of Brendan Whitaker’s article on the Mark Houck trial and my article on how I ended up on the FBI hit list for traditional Catholics in the March issue of Culture Wars, both stories have not only taken on legs; they have merged into a narrative that made national news after it became the basis of Senate hearings on prosecutorial bias in the Justice Department.
In his interrogation of Attorney General Merrick Garland, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas stated that “You agree with Roe v. Wade. You disagree with the Dobbs decision”1 was the fundamental principle which determined how the law was going to be enforced under Garland’s leadership at the Justice Department. Garland was clearly embarrassed by the charge but unable to refute the claim leveled by Cruz that the protesters demonstrating in front of the homes of the justices who voted in favor of the Dobbs decision would not be prosecuted, even though they clearly broke federal law because, as Cruz put it, the Justice Department decided “that this law doesn’t apply to harassing justices for an opinion [Garland’s lawyers] don’t like.” Cruz tried in vain to get Garland to answer a simple yes or no to his question, “Have you brought a single case against these protesters?”2
After failing to get a simple yes or no answer, Cruz brought up the case of Mark Houck, in which between 20 and 30 armed FBI officers showed up at this Catholic prolifer’s home with drawn guns in a predawn raid which both endangered and terrorized Houck’s entire family. Garland also repeatedly refused to answer Cruz’s question about “How do you decide which statutes you enforce and which statutes you don’t?”
“We’ve also seen violent attacks on pregnancy centers by left wing groups. There have been attacks all over the country, and yet the Department of Justice had not brought these violent criminals to justice. Contrast that to Mark Houck. If you’re a prolife activist, what can you expect? Well in this instance, according to Mr. Houck’s wife, two dozen agents clad in body armor and ballistic helmets and shields and a battering ram showed up at his house pointing rifles at his family. Why do you send two dozen agents in body armor to arrest a sidewalk counselor who happens to be prolife when you don’t dedicate resources to prosecute people who are violently firebombing crisis pregnancy centers?”3

Chemical Home Abortions And The Disposition Of Aborted Fetal Remains
“Crystal-clean water” has been a priority of President Donald J. Trump since day one of his first administration.1 As recently as April 2025, his administration announced it is “leveraging environmental policies . . . to promote economic growth while maintaining the standards that have afforded Americans the cleanest air and water in the world for generations.”2 Yet daily, our waterways are being contaminated by chemical abortion drugs and human remains as American women-left alone at home to endure the agonizing process of expelling their pregnancy-are often instructed by abortion providers to dispose of their Aborted child’s remains down the toilet. In 2000, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of the chemical abortion pill, Mifeprex (mifepristone). As part of the application in which said approval was sought, the Population Council submitted an Environmental Assessment (EA) that concluded, in part based on the estimated “Expected Introduction Concentration from Use” in the environment, that the impact of the drug on our environment would be minimal; hence, no further study was completed. 3 The same assessment failed to address the issue of how the fetal remains would be disposed of, essentially ignoring the reality that in many cases, said remains would enter U.S. water systems in violation of various fetal disposal and medical waste laws. Though the Clean Water Act (CWA) requires compliance with all such laws for any drug approval, these and state and local laws on water quality were clearly overlooked. Other creative, if not ironic, histrionics on display: “Forced Motherhood is Female Enslavement,” “Our Bodies Our Freedom,” “Abortion On Our Own Terms,” “Abortion is Healthcare,” “Safe and Legal Abortion is Pro-Life.” and the Gadsden-esque “Don’t Tread On My Uterus.” For 50 years, it’s been the liberal’s and Democrats’ non-stop harping on Republicans’ pro-life/anti-abortion stance that has led women to this baseless but firm belief they will lose their “reproductive health care,” via banning abortion. This reveals one of the biggest lies ever regurgitated by a political party in our country’s history: conflating abortion with “women’s reproductive health,” spring boarding to “women’s reproductive rights.” When did ‘reproductive health’ and ‘reproductive rights’ become synonymous with “abortion”? The more emotive the lie, the better the chance to insure the female vote. Why? Because, in glittering generalities, too many women don’t vote with their heads where their intelligence is stored. They vote with their uterus, ovaries, heart, adrenalin, or some combination based on rumors or comments on The View. The political drumbeat to “reverse Roe v. Wade” and overturn Dobbs is a perfect example.

8 Convicted Of Federal Civil Rights Offenses For Blockading Michigan Abortion Clinics
Eight people were found guilty in federal court Tuesday of conspiring to violate the rights of patients and employees at a Sterling Heights reproductive health care clinic and illegally blockading the facility four years ago.
A federal jury convicted each of the eight defendants of felony conspiracy against rights and Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act offenses, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a news release Tuesday.
Evidence showed that the eight defendants conspired to prevent patients from receiving reproductive health services and clinic employees from providing them, the Justice Department said. The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, a 30-year-old law, protects those provisions as civil rights.
Two of the eight were also convicted of a second Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act offense for blockading a different reproductive health care clinic in Saginaw in 2021, according to the news release.
“The defendants convicted today sought to interfere with that right by physically blocking the doors of clinics providing such services,” said Dawn Ison, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, in the statement. “These defendants are entitled to their views, but they are not entitled to prevent others from exercising the rights secured to them by the laws of the United States. This case is about the rule of law, and today’s verdict is a victory for that principle.”
Farmington Hills defense attorney Art Weiss represented the lead defendant and took issue with the conviction for conspiracy against rights. The civil rights statute makes it illegal to conspire to injure, oppress, threaten or intimidate people exercising their rights. It was passed in the 1870s to combat violence against Black citizens and efforts to deny them legal rights, according to the U.S. Senate’s website.
“The Department of Justice, by dusting off a statute that was enacted 170 years ago that had nothing to do with abortion at all, and apply it to these men and women was a disservice to what they intended to do, and a disservice to what the statute was designed to prevent,” Weiss said. “I trust that in future litigation, because it’s not over today, that that disservice will be remedied.”

Why Do Women Have Abortions?
The scene looks like this. A sixteen-year-old sees the word pregnant appear after peeing on a stick. She panics and chooses abortion because she’s not ready to be a mother. Sometimes her parents are painted as religious fundamentalists who are completely ignorant to the complications having a baby would add to her future. She has no choice but to keep it a secret from them. Other times, those “pro-life parents” are depicted as cruel and shaming, forcing their daughter to “choose life” in a way that feels far from grace-filled or loving. She’ll tell her supportive friends to cross a few state lines to get an abortion because she doesn’t want to be a mom.
This is how the media has programmed culture to think about abortion. It’s the scene we see in movies and television shows that conjures compassion for the pregnant girl, disdain for pro-life parents, and disregard for an unborn baby who would only “ruin” a promising future. Sometimes the characters change. It may be a twenty-something who just landed a great job and has to decide between a baby or her career. Or, the woman who’s at a place in her life she loves and she’s not sure she wants to be a mother.
But is this really the most common scenario in which abortions take place? Do most abortions happen because women (or teen girls) don’t want to have a baby? Do women decide to get abortions because they don’t want to be a mother?
The answer may surprise you. According to the research, “Not wanting children” is the least common reason for women to choose abortion. Only three percent of women surveyed in a five-year study of why women seek abortions choose “don’t want children” as their response. Women, by and large, don’t choose abortion because they don’t want a baby. They choose abortion because they don’t believe they have the support they need to raise a child.

Pro-Life Advocates Celebrate Missouri Supreme Court Abortion Decision
The Missouri Supreme Court has reinstated a near-total ban on abortion in the Show Me State. On May 27, 2025, justices ruled that a lower court judge had applied the wrong legal standard in two recent decisions that temporarily allowed abortions to resume.
Abortion had been almost entirely banned in Missouri since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade three years ago, but in November 2024 voters passed Amendment 3, enshrining the right to abortion in the state constitution. That amendment paved the way for Planned Parenthood to file a lawsuit challenging the ban.
Abortions in Missouri were allowed in recent months due to a preliminary injunction that had blocked enforcement of key health and safety regulations at abortion facilities. That injunction has been vacated by the state Supreme Court.
In a Washington Post article, Planned Parenthood announced that it had immediately halted all abortions in Missouri.
In bringing the case to the Supreme Court, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey secured a victory for “the rule of law, women’s health, and unborn life” by forcing abortion providers to comply with state law regarding basic safety and sanitation requirements.
In an Associated Press article, Planned Parenthood, which vowed to continue the legal battle in Missouri, maintained that those restrictions were specifically targeted to make it harder to access abortion.
“Planned Parenthood has a well-documented history of violating state law and disregarding women’s health,” said Bailey.
“The law is clear. The evidence is overwhelming. This ruling is a win for common sense, for basic medical safety, and for the sanctity of human life. We will continue to hold Planned Parenthood accountable, and we will always fight to protect women, children, and the rule of law.”

This cell line was used for “testing” the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. “What we may not know follows. The most prominent cell line, called HEK 293, comes from an abortion performed in the 1970’s. It’s labeled 293 because that’s how many experimental attempts the researchers needed to get a working cell line. Therefore, though the abortion-to-experiment ratio is not precisely one-to-one, hundreds of abortions went into the project, even if they didn’t result in the working line.”

Aborted Fetal Cells And Vaccines – A Scandal Much Bigger Than Pfizer’s Whistleblower Ever Imagined
Recently, Pfizer whistleblower Melissa Strickler, a manufacturing quality auditor for the company, exposed some of their internal emails. She was horrified by the information they contained and spoke with Project Veritas about what she had uncovered – the use of fetal cells from aborted babies to test their COVID-19 vaccine. This is some of what top management wrote:
“From the perspective of corporate affairs,” [Pfizer Senior Director of Worldwide Research Vanessa] Gelman wrote in one email, “we want to avoid having the information on fetal cells floating out there … The risk of communicating this right now outweighs any potential benefit we could see, particularly with general members of the public who may take this information and use it in ways we may not want out there.
In another email exchange between Advait Badkar, senior director of the Novel Delivery Technologies group within Pfizer’s Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences organization, Gelman can be seen admitting to Badkar that, “One or more cell lines with an origin that can be traced back to human fetal tissue has been used in laboratory tests associated with the vaccine program.”
She warned him that, “We have been trying as much as possible to not mention the fetal cell lines.”

The Abortion Pill Is Not Safer Than Tylenol: New Insurance Database Study Reveals Risks
The Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) released a study of over 865,000 women who took the abortion pill. Their data reveal that the risk of suffering serious adverse events was over 10%–in sharp contrast to the FDA’s claim of 0.5%, (which was based on only 30,000 women and decades old data).
The EPPC used real-life data from insurance claims during 2017-2023 that included 865,727 prescribed mifepristone abortions. The authors looked at the incidence of adverse events occurring up to 45 days after taking the abortion drugs. What they found is that 10.93% of women who took the abortion pill protocol suffered a serious adverse event. Another way of expressing this is that the actual risk of suffering an adverse event after taking the abortion pills is 22 times higher than the FDA’s claim (21.86 x 0.5 = 10.93).
Following the FDA’s criteria for adverse events (AEs), the study only included AEs categorized as “serious” and “life-threatening.” Mifepristone labeling lists serious adverse events from clinical trials as sepsis, infection, transfusion, hemorrhage, hospitalization, and emergency room visits. The study focused on abortion-related hospitalizations and emergency room visits identified by diagnosis and procedure codes. In addition, they included other events deemed serious or life-threatening.

We Can’t See Clearly Anymore: Delegate Denounces Virginia Abortion Resolution
Before the Virginia House of Delegates voted on a resolution that sought to enshrine the right to abortion in their state, Mark Earley, Jr. made an impassioned plea to his colleagues on behalf of life. In January, Earley called House Joint Resolution 1 “the most extreme and ideologically driven abortion amendment among any proposed in the nation.”
Unfortunately, The resolution passed in the House with similar legislation introduced in the Senate. According to the Associated Press, constitutional amendments cannot be vetoed by the governor, but must pass twice over at least two years, with a legislative election in between. After that, the public votes on the issue by referendum.
HJ 1, introduced by House Majority Leader Charniele Herring, claimed to ensure that every individual has the right to make personal decisions regarding pregnancy, including access to prenatal care, contraception, abortion, miscarriage management, and infertility treatment. The proposal also seeks to protect healthcare providers and others who assist individuals in exercising these rights from prosecution.
However, in a five-minute speech on the House floor, Earley said the legislation obliterates parental consent and notification, erases the possibility of common-sense guardrails around health and safety, and allows for the latest of late-term abortions.
“We can’t see clearly anymore,” he said. “We have all become so entrenched in our lines of thinking that we sometimes forget to ask the most simple question of all—which is what exactly are we talking about and who exactly are we talking about?”

From Silence To Support: How Churches Can Walk Alongside Those Facing Unplanned Pregnancies

Only God can energize more healthy, grace-based churches to lead in ministry to the abortion-vulnerable.
Abortion is a problem both in the church and outside the church. Two national surveys confirm that four in ten women who have had abortions were attending church at least once a month at the time of their first abortion. A story from Care Net’s Pregnancy Decision Line coaches illustrates this reality well:
I spoke with a woman who was 11 weeks and three days along in her pregnancy. She described herself as a person of faith with a church community. Yet, she was considering abortion due to the morning sickness that she was experiencing. She has two older sons ages 7 and 4. Their father and the father of the current baby wants her to carry to term. Yet, she was considering abortion. Thankfully in our discussion she changed her mind.
God is at work. More and more pastors are learning about these private, hidden issues and starting to speak to them. Often it starts with a local pregnancy center beginning to see churches in their area as partners.
One of the managers from a pregnancy center in Holland, Michigan, who emphasized that all their efforts begin with a season of prayer, shared a praise report during a year of fruitful ministry. The center hosted several “Abortion and the Gospel” conversations, quarterly meetings where various pastors talk about the problem of abortion in the church and the need for discipleship. One meeting had 26 attendees and, as a result, more churches in the area are considering Care Net’s Making Life Disciples curriculum.

Can New York Doctor Be Shielded from Prosecution In Louisiana Abortion Case?
A New York doctor who prescribed abortion pills to out-of-state patients has been criminally charged in Louisiana and fined $100,000 in Texas.
On February 13, an arrest warrant was issued in Louisiana for Dr. Margaret Daley Carpenter, founder of the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine, after a grand jury indicted her for allegedly prescribing abortion pills online to a pregnant minor.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has vowed to ignore any extradition order, while Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has declared that justice would be served—setting up a potential legal battle over state sovereignty. The case could challenge New York’s shield laws, which protect abortion providers and patients from legal actions originating in states where abortion is restricted or banned.
“Prescribing safe abortion medication is legal under the laws of [New York],” Hochul said.
In a YouTube video announcing the signing of the extradition warrant, Louisiana Governor Landry said Carpenter prescribed abortion pills to a young woman who was excited to have a baby and was even planning a gender reveal party.
“Her mom conspired with a New York doctor to get a chemical abortion pill in the mail and [forced] that minor to take it,” the governor said. “This minor ended up in the hospital. This pill ended up ending her pregnancy and that baby’s life. There’s only one right answer in this situation…the doctor must face extradition to Louisiana where she can stand. Trial and justice will be served. We owe that to the minor and to the people of this state who stand by life overwhelmingly.”

Pro-Life Leaders Urge DOJ To Enforce Comstock Act On Abortion Pills
A host of pro-life leaders, including Care Net President and CEO Roland Warren, have petitioned the Department of Justice to enforce the Comstock Act, an 1873 law that includes a prohibition on mailing abortion pills.
The letter to Acting Attorney General James McHenry also called for the reversal of the Office of Legal Counsel’s 2022 Memorandum Opinion regarding the Comstock Act; The opinion opened the door for abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol to be sent through the mail.
The Comstock Act is a federal law that criminalizes the mailing of obscene, lewd, or lascivious materials, including contraceptives and abortion-related items. Lawmakers amended the law in 1971 to remove the prohibition on mailing contraceptives, according to World Magazine.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice determined that the Comstock Act only applies when the sender intends for the material or drug to be used for an illegal abortion. The opinion did not overrule state restrictions on abortion or sanction buying meds from overseas pharmacies. However, because abortion is legal in some form in every state (e.g., to save the life of the pregnant person or in cases of rape or incest), it’s difficult to determine the intent of each sender.
“The mere mailing of such drugs to a particular jurisdiction is an insufficient basis for concluding that the sender intends them to be used unlawfully,” the opinion stated.
Yet, section 1461 of the Comstock Act is straightforward in its prohibition of drugs, medical instruments, and “every article or thing designed, adapted, or intended for producing abortion, or for any indecent or immoral use…”

Built On The Rock: A Story Of Faith, Family, And Choosing Life

Leslie was the very first client at Pregnancy Care Center in Old Hickory, Tennessee. She was 18 and had just started college when she found out she was pregnant.
“I didn’t know what to expect, but once I found out how much they did for pregnant girls like me, I knew I could do this,” she said.
Two years later, Leslie and her husband Rodney were newly married and barely making ends meet when she found out they were pregnant again. Leslie came back to the pregnancy center and Rodney came with her. They chose life for their son and began taking parenting classes.
Rodney was so grateful for the help he received that he came back to the center to volunteer to lead fatherhood classes.
A few years later they were a stable family of four. They returned to the center to share their joy and celebrate the news that they were expecting their third child. Leslie also shared about how Pregnancy Care Center has helped revive her relationship with the Lord: “I learned that God will never leave me. The Lord has helped me and Rodney grow together as parents.”
Rodney agrees, “We know we are not alone because we have God with us. He gave his only Son to die on the cross for us. When you have a child you realize you will do anything for them, just like God loves us and would do anything for us. We love our children to the ends of the world.”

This is a God-given dream that began in 2017, and this upcoming summer, it will come to fruition with the help of people across the country who believed that these moms deserved the best.
Assessing Hardships Contributing to Abortion
When asked how this dream even began, Savannah responded, “In 2017, we were noticing there were some themes that we were seeing in women who were coming into our clinic who were leaning towards making an abortion decision or were at risk to make an abortion decision. A lot of those themes were really surrounding barriers to care. In 2017, we actually did a survey with women who had come into our clinic who either were thinking about having an abortion and changed their mind, or were thinking about having an abortion and actually had an abortion. And through that survey, we found that there were five areas that when women did not have access or perceived that they didn’t have access to these areas, they were more likely to make an abortion decision. And those areas were housing, healthcare, childcare, economic (schooling and job training), and transportation.”
This began the process of the pregnancy center developing strategic referral partners in the community that were providing the services that were needed by these clients. To avoid mission drift, rather than duplicating programs already in existence, the pregnancy center reached out to community partners that were doing the things needed really well and began to build bridges with them for their clients.

Landmark Texas Case: Midwife Arrested For Illegal Abortion, No License
In one of the first cases of its kind in the nation, a Texas midwife was arrested on March 16 and charged with performing abortions and practicing medicine without a license.
Maria Margarita Rojas, 48, a midwife known as “Dr. Maria,” illegally operated a network of clinics and unlawfully employed unlicensed individuals who falsely presented themselves as licensed medical professionals, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Two of Rojas’ associates were also arrested and charged.
Texas law holds abortion providers—not patients—criminally responsible for unlawful procedures.
Under the Texas Human Life Protection Act of 2021, the Attorney General has the authority to seek civil penalties of at least $100,000 per violation for the unlawful performance of an abortion. Local prosecutors may also choose to pursue criminal charges based on violations of Texas abortion prohibitions predating Roe that were never repealed by the Texas Legislature. Under those statutes, Rojas would face a second-degree felony, punishable by imprisonment ranging from 2 to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
“In Texas, life is sacred. I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws, and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Texas law protecting life is clear, and we will hold those who violate it accountable.”

JAMA Study: 22,000 More Births Tied To Post-Dobbs Abortion Bans
A recent study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has determined that 22,000 additional babies were born as a result of abortion bans in 14 states following the historic 2022 Dobbs decision.
JAMA researchers analyzed state-level fertility before and after the implementation of abortion bans, comparing trends to states without such restrictions. The study, which examined 12 years of data (2012-2023), indicates that states enforcing abortion bans experienced higher fertility rates than would have been expected without these policies.
Michael New, assistant professor of practice at the Busch School of Business at the Catholic University of America and a senior associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, called the report “good news” in an article for National Review.
“It is heartening to see an analytically rigorous study demonstrate the lifesaving effects of pro-life laws,” wrote New.
New, however, noted that the JAMA study probably understates the impact of some recent pro-life policy changes because it only considered state abortion bans and heartbeat acts, overlooked temporary pro-life laws in states like Ohio and South Carolina, and did not account for how ongoing litigation may have deterred abortion services in states where it remained legal.
The JAMA research also claimed that there was a 6% increase in infant mortality from 2021 through 2023. In an interview with Tony Perkins on Washington Watch, New challenged those findings, saying that longer-term data into 2024 indicated a decrease in mortality rates.

Abortion: US Slams UK’s Anti-Free Speech Tyranny (Text and Video)
An anti-abortion campaigner has been found guilty of breaching an abortion clinic buffer zone in Bournemouth, United Kingdom in a trial being monitored by Trump officials.
Livia Tossici-Bolt, 64, was accused of breaching a Public Spaces Protection Order outside the Dorset clinic on two days in March 2023 by holding a sign saying: ‘Here to talk, if you want.’
A bureau within the US Department of State said it was closely monitoring the case and reports claimed the issue had even entered UK and US trade negotiations. However, business secretary Jonathan Reynolds insisted that free speech was not part of tariff negotiations with the US.
On Friday Livia was convicted at Poole Magistrates’ Court of two charges of breaching the protection order and sentenced to a conditional discharge for two years. She was ordered to pay £20,000 towards court costs and a £26 victim surcharge.
District Judge Orla Austin said that Livia Tossici-Bolt had deeply held beliefs, but her rights of freedom of expression under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) had to be balanced against the rights of the women attending the clinic and its staff.
She said: ‘I accept that the defendant engaged in the conduct underlying this case as part of a sincerely motivated desire to attend that location and display her signage outside the clinic, encouraging conversation to matters of particular importance to her.
‘This does not mean that her conviction for failing to leave the area when required would be disproportionate, nor give rise to a reasonable excuse on the facts of this case.’
She added the defendant ‘lacks insight that her presence could have a detrimental effect on the women attending the clinic, their associates, staff and members of the public’.

Report: Biden DOJ Weaponized The FACE Act Against Pro-Life Americans
A new report from the Department of Justice revealed that the Biden Administration may have violated the rights of pro-life Americans through its biased enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
On April 14, the Department of Justice released a review of internal discussions, case files, and prosecutorial decisions under the FACE Act, and concluded that the Biden DOJ abused its power.
“This Department will not tolerate a two-tiered system of justice,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “No Department should conduct selective prosecution based on beliefs. The weaponization that happened under the Biden Administration will not happen again, as we restore integrity to our prosecutorial system.”
The FACE Act is a federal law passed in 1994 that protects access to abortion clinics, pregnancy centers, and any organization providing reproductive health services. It prohibits the use or threat of force, physical obstruction, or property damage to interfere with individuals seeking or providing these services.
Although the report includes disturbing details for pro-life advocates, it also highlights the role of organizations like Care Net in pushing for a more balanced application of the FACE Act. Care Net engaged with officials in the Biden Administration to advocate for the law to be applied fairly and in a way that also protects pregnancy centers from vandalism and attacks. Through ongoing conversations and email exchanges with DOJ staff, the organization helped prompt revisions to the FBI’s FACE Act Resource Booklet, aiming to ensure more accurate and fair representation of life-affirming organizations.
The need for a level playing field was certainly evident during that period.
“Though the Act was supposed to protect both pro-choice and pro-life facilities, the Biden DOJ provided extensive support to abortion clinics, while ignoring and downplaying vandalism and attacks against pregnancy resource centers,” the report stated.
According to the report, the Biden DOJ pursued significantly harsher sentences for pro-life defendants than violent pro-abortion defendants. The Biden Administration requested an average sentence of 26.8 months in pro-life cases, compared to 12.3 months in pro-choice cases, including cases involving vandalism of pregnancy centers.

Delaware, Illinois Court Decisions Are Free Speech Victories For PRCs
Two recent federal court rulings in Delaware and Illinois upheld pregnancy centers’ right to free speech. Delaware’s Senate Bill 300, which was set to go into effect in March, required pregnancy centers to post disclaimers within their facilities and on all advertising materials that state that they do not have a licensed medical provider on staff directly supervising the provision of services. However, one month after a pregnancy center and a nonprofit network of affiliated centers sued the Delaware attorney general over what they deemed as unconstitutional legislation, state officials agreed to a court order prohibiting them from enforcing the law for the duration of the case. In February, attorneys with Simms Showers and Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates and one of its four member facilities in Delaware, A Door of Hope Pregnancy Center in Wilmington. A Door of Hope is also a member of Care Net’s network of 1,200 pregnancy centers. In the lawsuit, the attorneys explained how forcing the pregnancy centers to post “government-compelled speech” in disclaimers would be burdensome, misleading, and would limit the centers’ digital advertising options, thus impeding their freedom of speech.

Civilized Societies Don’t Kill Their Children
A horrifyingly released statistical report from the Office for National Statistics Wales in 2022 revealed that abortion is at the highest rate ever recorded in that country.
According to the ONS, 29.7% of known pregnancies resulted in a termination that year, continuing a trend of rising abortion rates since 2012.
Abortion is the deliberate destruction of an unborn living baby, as compared to miscarriages or stillborn babies who were wanted and whose death was not on purpose.
This was covered in the UK Independent. Britain has 68 million people living there, and a birthrate of 1.44, the lowest rate on record, significantly below the replacement population rate of 2.1.
The birthrate in America is 1.66 as of 2022. NPR this week said that lower fertility was overall a net positive, since childbirth is painful and babies cost a lot of money.

LifeChat: Why Words Matter-The Dangerous Shift From Pro-Creation To Co-Creation (3:44)
In a 2023 article, a United Church of Christ pastor stated, “We believe God is the source of all life and has caused us to share in the work of creation…the privileges and responsibilities of being part of co-creating means that women have the ability and the wherewithal to make the decision that’s right for them.”
Notice the difference. Pro means for creation; co means creating alongside. A pro-creator understands they are facilitating life that God alone creates. A co-creator assumes agency, authority, and ultimately, the right to alter or end life.
This deceptive shift allows a false sense of ownership over life itself, shaping a worldview that grants humans power God never intended them to have. As believers, we must hold fast to the truth: we are pro-creators, not co-creators—participants in God’s miraculous design, not authors of it.
Words matter because truth matters.
Roland explains that the problem of thinking about pregnancy and childbirth as co-creation is that the co-creator has agency or rights over what they are creating.

New Study: The Abortion Pill Harms Women Far More Than Labels Indicate
According to a new study from the Ethics and Policy Center, the rate of serious health complications following mifepristone abortions is at least 22 times higher than the number found on current drug labels.
This stunning finding was reached in a paper entitled The Abortion Pill Harms Women: Insurance Data Reveals One in Ten Patients Experiences a Serious Adverse Event. The research, released on April 28, was conducted by Jamie Bryan Hall (Director of Data Analysis, Ethics and Public Policy Center) and Ryan T. Anderson (President).
“Women deserve better than the abortion pill,” the authors said in the report.
The comprehensive study was based on analysis of data from an insurance claims database that includes 865,727 prescribed mifepristone abortions from 2017 to 2023. The key conclusion: “10.93 percent of women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious or life-threatening adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion, far greater than the summary figure of ‘less than 0.5 percent’ in clinical trials reported on the drug label.”

Church Leaders Urge Trump to Halt Mail-Order Abortion Drug Sales
In a recent letter to President Donald Trump, 40 Baptist leaders from 22 states implored his administration to stop the mail-order distribution of the abortion drug mifepristone.
“Women, unborn children, and the rule of law urgently need your leadership,” they said.
The letter detailed how a federal policy carried over from the Biden administration continues to allow abortion drugs to be dispensed without an in-person consultation with a doctor or medical professional, placing the health and safety of women at serious risk. It also noted that abortion drugs are being distributed by mail in violation of the Comstock Act, even into states that have enacted pro-life laws following the historic Dobbs decision.
The continuation of this federal policy under the Trump administration is effectively nullifying the pro-life laws of many states represented in the letter, which was drafted under the leadership of Family Research Council President Tony Perkins. The letter was signed by forty leaders from the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in the United States.
“As spiritual overseers and pro-life leaders, we are deeply grateful for your unwavering defense of the unborn during your first term—particularly your leadership in overturning Roe v. Wade, reinstating and expanding the Mexico City Policy, and defunding Planned Parenthood and reversing the Biden/Harris administration’s abuse of the FACE Act,” the letter began.
“Today, we respectfully urge your immediate action to stop the mail-order distribution of the abortion drug mifepristone, which now accounts for more than 60% of all U.S. abortions. Enabled by the previous administration’s rollback of FDA safety protocols, this dangerous drug has caused serious adverse events in nearly 11% of users and poses grave risks to women—especially when dispensed without in-person screening or ultrasound evaluation.”

West Virginia Expands Pro-Life Laws Supporting Moms And The Unborn
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey signed three bills into law that have strengthened his state’s commitment to defend the sanctity of life.
On May 29, Morrisey was joined by other elected officials and pro-life supporters at CrossPoint Church in Beckley, West Virginia to ceremoniously sign legislation supporting expecting mothers, protecting children, and extending protections for the unborn.
“West Virginia has a proud history of standing for the value and dignity of life,” said Morrisey. “I am pleased to sign these bills into law to further defend and protect the most vulnerable among us.”
West Virginia’s Senate Bill 537 strengthens support for women facing unplanned pregnancies by expanding the Mothers and Babies Support Program. State funding can now be used with greater flexibly by pregnancy centers, including for capital expenditures, staff training, licensing, and accreditation. The bill, which clearly excludes “abortion industry organizations,” will ensure that more women receive compassionate, life-affirming care.
The Legislature allocated $3 million for the program, according to West Virginia Watch.
The other two bills signed by the governor enhance legal protections for children and babies in the womb.
West Virginia House Bill 2123 increases the penalty for child abuse or neglect by a parent, guardian, or custodian from a misdemeanor to a felony when the abuse causes bodily injury. Under the new law, offenders can now face one to five years in prison and up to a $1,000 fine.
House Bill 2871 expands the definition of vehicular homicide to include a new offense: aggravated vehicular homicide. It also clarifies that victims of vehicular homicide can include embryos and fetuses. The bill passed unanimously in both the West Virginia House and Senate.
“Now, the loss of a child in the womb can be considered a death for purposes of prosecution,” Morrisey told West Virginia Watch. “That’s just common sense. A life in the womb is still a life. Our laws have to reflect that fact.”
Morrisey, who previously served as Attorney General, said he was humbled to be part of West Virginia’s distinguished pro-life history.

Abortion Pill Access Drives Post-Dobbs Rise In U.S. Abortions, Study Finds
Three years after the landmark Dobbs Supreme Court decision, the mission of Care Net—to offer compassion, hope, and help to women and men at risk for abortion—remains as urgent as ever.
This reality was underscored by a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), which found that the rise in abortion pill distribution has been a major driver of abortion statistics in recent years. The research project, led by University of Texas at Austin Professor Dr. Abigail?R.?A.?Aiken, was entitled, Provision of Abortion Medications Using Online Asynchronous Telemedicine Under Shield Laws in the US.
Despite the high number of state-level abortion bans following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, recent data suggest that abortion rates have remained steady or even increased, the JAMA study concluded.
This trend may be explained, at least in part, “by the growing use of online asynchronous telemedicine abortion services—particularly those operating under shield laws, which allow U.S.-licensed clinicians to provide abortion medications to patients in ban states with protection from legal liability.”

The “right” to have a child does not exist. Children are gifts, not possessions or commodities to be bought and sold. But the fertility and abortion industries have turned them into just that. Innocent human beings are being created and destroyed to fit the desires of adults, while being deprived of their own right to know their biological mother or father.
Children as accessories
Though thousands of children are eligible for adoption in the U.S., some adults desire a biological child so badly that they will spare no expense to create a child who is biologically related to them, even if the child is not biologically related to his or her partner/spouse. If the desire to have a biological child (rather than an adopted child) is so strong, then it should also be obvious that a child will have a strong desire to know his or her biological parents.
Fashion designer Peter Dundas and his partner Evangelo Bousis created a baby using an egg donor and surrogate. Dudas told The Times, “There is this stigma with surrogacy. People think, ‘Oh, same-sex couples – they buy a baby.’ I’ve even heard the word ‘accessory’ used and that’s unfair. You really have to put your heart and soul into it. I think everybody should be able to have a baby if they want to, but it’s not that easy.”
But as many know, the desire for a child does not ensure that someone will be a good parent. A child is a human being with rights. One of those rights is to know his or her biological mother and father.
While adoption agencies screen prospective parents, the fertility industry doesn’t. In adoption, the children (not the adults) are the clients, and any parents looking to adopt are put through a rigorous process of background checks and home visits. The child’s best interest is at the center of adoption. With the fertility industry, it’s the needs of the adults that are put first.
Bousis said, “It’s science, so you think, ‘I’m going to get the best this and the best that and nine months later I’m going to have a baby.'” Human beings are being labeled as to whether or not they fit what the client wants in a baby -the best this and the best that. But children are not cars or houses, and it is unethical to essentially shop for the children that suit adults’ needs most.

Babies For “Sale” For The LGBTQ Community: How the Surrogacy Ban Is Easily Circumvented
Surrogacy is prohibited in Germany. Yet international surrogacy agencies are prominently promoted at so-called fertility fairs – such as the one held last weekend in Berlin. The main target group is members of the LGBTQ community, who can “buy” a child in this way.
The “Wish for a Baby” fair has already faced sharp criticism in the past. Despite Germany’s ban on surrogacy, international agencies are allowed to heavily advertise their services there. Nothing has changed, as the latest Berlin fair clearly shows. On the event’s website and social media channels, the rainbow community is again prominently addressed as a key audience.
Over the weekend, surrogacy agencies from the U.S., Canada, and Africa were among the exhibitors. While surrogacy is forbidden under Germany’s Embryo Protection Act (ESchG), those who use a surrogate mother abroad remain exempt from punishment. Critics have long compared surrogacy to prostitution, slavery, and human trafficking – and not without reason. “People from wealthy Western countries are buying the services of a woman living in poverty abroad to bear a child,” a women’s rights activist said back in 2023 in a comment to rp-online during protests against the fair. The largest share of the money, however, goes not to the surrogate mothers, but to the agencies and clinics.
For the self-proclaimed “woke” who claim to see inequality everywhere, this seems irrelevant: biological women may now, under the spell of the trans craze, serve as birthing machines for the “new women” – meaning men. When a loving woman cooks and bakes for her husband and child, it’s denounced as oppression, and she’s labeled a far-right “trad wife.” But when men identifying as women for fetishistic reasons drag babies into their perversions, it’s celebrated as empowerment. Some are even given medication so their bodies can produce secretions, which they then feed to babies as pseudo “breast milk.”
Whether people who buy a child as if it were a product can truly be considered fit parents – or capable of having a positive influence on a defenseless child – is something everyone must answer for themselves. One thing is certain: the value of family and of life itself is increasingly under attack in today’s zeitgeist. While abortions are being promoted domestically, babies abroad are being born purely for sale – as products, importable like a car or a smartphone.

Surrogacy makes children a commodity that can be shopped for and sold to fulfill adult desires.
The practice of surrogacy has stirred up controversy in the conservative world. Surrogacy along with in vitro fertilization (IVF) have been practiced by many hopeful couples across the political spectrum. For some, the road to natural conception has been heartbreakingly difficult. For others, mostly celebrities, surrogacy has been used as a method to not “disfigure” the body. Couples may go on to be wonderful parents who raise great children and build strong families, yet there are many things about surrogacy that are left in the dark but are widely backed by science.
Whether the intentions for surrogacy come from a deep longing for children or other reasons, the truth must be said. Surrogacy makes children a commodity that can be shopped for and sold to fulfill adult desires.
Recently, Twitter feeds have been filled with images of same-sex couples holding a newborn they purchased through surrogacy. The pictures often depict a man sitting on a hospital bed holding a newborn with his partner standing next to him. The newborn may not yet know that he or she was created and bought for his new “parents.” This newborn’s connection to his or her mother that started in the womb will soon be severed, and the newborn will be deprived of that primal, biological, motherly connection he or she needs.
A 2018 study published by Science Daily states: “When a baby is taken from its mother for even a brief period early in life, this traumatic event significantly alters the future, adult function of the brain, according to a new animal model study. These changes in the brain are similar to disturbances in brain structure and function that are found in people at risk for neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia.”
A testimony coming from someone created through surrogacy states: “Children of surrogacy, just like children of a traditional adoption, deal with traumas. We want to know where we come from … who gave birth to us and what they are like. When we have children in this world who already need homes, why are we intentionally creating children [via surrogacy] to go through adoption traumas?”
Children are considered a vulnerable population that requires the protection of adults. When adults are using science to breed children to fulfill a couple’s desires, it takes away the natural right that children have to their biological parents. Surrogate mothers are sold when they hear they can make thousands only to find it difficult to give her baby up to the parents who rented her womb.

The New York State Legislature has legalized commercial gestational surrogacy-the contractual renting of wombs and the buying and selling of newborn babies.
This was done at the insistence of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who did not let the crisis of coronavirus go to waste. He refused to debate the bill as a stand-alone piece of legislation. Instead, he buried his surrogacy proposal in the state budget, which passed in the wee hours of the morning on April 3.
It is illegal under state law to sell organs, but women can now rent their wombs for profit, assuming they survive the surrogacy process. Gestational surrogacy involves impregnating a surrogate mother by implanting embryos created from the eggs of the intended mother or egg donor, and the sperm of the intended father or sperm donor. Women and newborns often do not survive gestational pregnancies, and those who do are often affected physically and psychologically.
For instance, surrogacy survivors Brittney Rose Torres and Melissa Cook each carried triplets. During their pregnancies, they were told to abort two of the three children, and faced threats and financial ruin for refusing to do so. Abortion and selective reduction clauses are routinely written into all surrogacy contracts as a matter of control over the end product, the child. Many embryos die in the surrogacy process. And it is well-documented in medical literature that a woman pregnant with “donor” eggs is at a very high risk of pregnancy-related complications such as preeclampsia and even death. Michelle Reaves and Crystal Wilhite died while giving birth as surrogates, leaving their own children without a mother.
Yet New York is now open for the business of buying and selling babies. Surrogacy brokers, lawyers, and fertility doctors will profit handsomely, while surrogate mothers and female egg donors will bear all the risks.
In the case of Bousis and his partner, both men’s sperm were used to implant two embryos so that each would have a biological child. “We wanted twins – a boy and a girl,” said Bousis. To accomplish this, they would have had to weed through embryos and possibly discard or freeze any extra boys or girls they made.
Paris Hilton made similar comments, though she was speaking not of surrogacy but of wanting to use IVF – “so I can pick twins if I like.” Again, children are not products on a shelf that adults get to pick and choose from. They are human beings who have rights – including the right to life.
Former host of “The View” Sherri Shepherd entered into a surrogacy agreement with the intention of saving her marriage to her then-husband. Halfway through the surrogate’s pregnancy, Shepherd bailed, abandoning the child she had paid to create as if he were a product to be returned to the store for a refund. Shepherd refused to assume any responsibility for the child but was eventually forced to pay child support by a court.

Surrogacy Means Uteruses For Rent And Babies For Sale
Surrogacy arrangements are ripe for legal and ethical messes, as the case of Melissa Cook shows. She is a 47-year old gestational surrogate who delivered triplets several weeks premature. She was conscripted for the job by a deaf 50-year-old postal worker in Georgia. The two engaged in a legal battle after the commissioning parent-to-be expressed his desire to “reduce” the pregnancy as permitted in their written contract, which meant aborting one of the triplets.
Cook claimed the contract she signed violates her rights to equal protection and due process. She was banking on the idea that no California court would force a woman to undergo an abortion, rendering the “reduction clause” of the contract unenforceable. She wants to adopt the third baby and give the other two to the father, as promised. The battle over “reduction” is now a custody battle, as all three babies were taken away from the surrogate immediately after birth given that she had contracted the children away.
Cook is now fighting for California’s surrogacy law to be ruled unconstitutional because, according to her lawyer, “it reduces a surrogate to a ‘breeding animal or incubator.'”
State surrogacy laws, which are often unclear and in some cases nonexistent, are a labyrinth for all parties in surrogacy arrangements. Treacherous as it may seem, the arrangement often proceeds with no contract, and is then drawn up when issues begin to arise. Due to confusion among adoption and surrogacy laws, the payment for a woman’s “service” of gestation or delivery of a child-what constitutes the “sale” of a baby-is, apparently, far from settled.
But the harm done to women and the “products” of conception is indisputable. Surrogacy is a legal mess partly because the laws are ambiguous, but primarily because surrogacy is, at its foundation, ethically compromising.

This chilling portrayal of genetic manipulation is what some imagine as they consider the ethical complexities and moral dilemmas faced today with in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Contrary to its depiction in Hollywood, IVF has offered hope to many couples dealing with infertility issues. This advanced reproductive technology has enabled individuals who might have otherwise faced childlessness to have biological children. Yet, despite its benefits, the procedure raises profound ethical questions about the sanctity of life.
When evaluating the technological progress in fertility treatments, it’s crucial to examine if the mere capability to perform procedures using IVF technology justifies their application. Additionally, we must consider whether there are theological principles that ought to guide such decisions.
As a fervent advocate for the abolition of abortion, I deeply believe in the sanctity of life, from conception to natural death. This belief also fuels my opposition to IVF, grounded in solid theological, moral, and ethical convictions. Can In Vitro Fertilization Ever Be Morally Permissible?
Q. I am in a moral predicament. I am Catholic and my husband is Orthodox. He is nearing 40 and I am nearing 35. We have been married for nearly four years. We have been told we have a 1% chance of natural conception given male infertility issues (low sperm motility). Both my husband and I have tried surgical methods and vitamins to enhance our fertility, but have seen little improvement. We have also tried the Creighton Model, but that primarily deals with female infertility, not male. The only medical solution available to us for conceiving our own child of which we are aware is in vitro fertilization (IVF) using a technique known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI, where a single sperm cell is injected into the cytoplasm of the egg (this overcomes the motility issue). The Orthodox Church does not teach against IVF and in fact encourages it in cases like ours, and very few Catholic priests ever state plainly the Catholic position. Because of my strong desire for parenthood, I have come to be open to IVF. If we choose it, we will use my eggs and my husband’s sperm, so no donors would be involved, and we would not do pre-genetic screening to “discard” any embryos. I admit I am not fully 100% OK with doing IVF and have consulted my priest friends who have stated they are not moral theologians and thus can’t advise further on the details of the Church’s teaching. Could you please offer some advice in the near future? I am currently scheduled to begin my first cycle of IVF June 5. I thus respectfully ask for a reply before that time if at all possible.
A. I want to begin by apologizing to you on behalf of the Catholic Church, and particularly on behalf of the priests, bishops, catechists and teachers that you’ve had in your life who have badly failed you. I am very sorry for this, truly, because it will doubtlessly make your reception of the truth of the Catholic teaching more difficult and doubtful. Please read my reply prayerfully.
Your beautifully worded dilemma comes down to a simple question: Is it ever morally legitimate to create new human life outside the context of marital intercourse? For if it is, then surely your situation – a devout, faithful, married Christian couple struggling with male infertility – would warrant a limited appeal to a technology like IVF.
But the answer to the question, according to the authoritative, repeated and unchangeable teaching of the Catholic Church, is No. I tell you this with my deepest compassion and sympathy. I am sorry, but there is no wiggle room whatsoever. And anyone who tells you otherwise, including any priest or bishop, may not understand this teaching but nonetheless, is misleading you and betraying the Catholic teaching.
Perhaps an explanation of that teaching might be of some assistance.
There is only one human act that adequately expresses this love: marital intercourse. When embryonic children supervene upon an act of self-giving love, they are literally begotten in and by love.
IVF children, on the other hand, even one’s belonging to good people like you, are not begotten in love, they are made. They are the products of a laboratory procedure, where constituent elements are mixed together under the wary eye of a technician at a controlled temperature, inserted into warming trays, and observed under a microscope till ripe for implantation. These children come into existence not by an act of love, but by a technique in a laboratory. In this way they are treated as products. The fact that their parents intend to raise them lovingly in the faith does not and cannot erase the fact that from their first vulnerable moments of existence, they are treated as subhuman; sinned against; harmed. What then should you do? Well, the first thing any of us must do when considering available options is exclude morally wrongful alternatives. So you should cancel your June 5 appointment. This will be difficult. But it is the right thing to do. Then you discern how to proceed. Have you considered intrauterine/fallopian insemination (IUI)? Here, a couple performs marital intercourse; sperm are collected from the woman’s vagina (not through the use of a perforated condom); the sperm is washed and relocated within her fallopian tubes or uterus. The egg may also be removed and relocated. Some theologians believe this constitutes a replacement of the marital act, but I do not agree. It seems to me a morally licit way to assist the completion of the marital act. The Church has not taught specifically on the morality of IUI.
If in the end you find no morally licit way to conceive your own children, then, like all serious unavoidable sufferings that people face, you should do your best to accept your infertility as a cross that Jesus, at least for the time being, is asking you to bear. But you mustn’t try an end-run around the cross. It will end badly for you and those you love.

The Morality Of In Vitro Fertilization
ecent court cases in Alabama and here in Texas have reintroduced conversations into the public forum about the dignity of human embryos who have been conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF) but remain frozen awaiting implantation into the body of a woman that they might be carried through pregnancy until birth. On Feb. 16, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that the frozen embryos were persons allowing parents to claim civil damages for the deaths of their children if the embryos were to be destroyed in the IVF clinic. The court also cited a 2018 constitutional amendment passed by the State of Alabama that says, “It is the public policy of this state to recognize and support the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of unborn children, including the right to life.”
In Texas, the law banning nearly all abortions that went into effect last September after the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision defines an unborn child as “an individual living member of the homo sapiens species from fertilization until birth, including the entire embryonic and fetal stages of development.” Both the Alabama and Texas laws and subsequent court cases have prompted legal and moral considerations of the process of IVF and whether frozen embryos should be treated as persons or property.
While these issues might appear to be new to contemporary courts and legislatures, they have been addressed with sensitive and pastoral reflection by the Catholic Church for many years. In 1987, the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith (now known as the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith – DDF) published the Instruction, Donum Vitae. This document considered the various procedures involved with IVF considering the moral teaching of the Church regarding the dignity of the human person and the principles of natural law. The document considered such varied issues as surrogate motherhood, the harvesting of embryos for the purposes of experimentation, and the morality of IVF itself. The teaching presented in Donum Vitae has been further developed in subsequent papal encyclicals and teaching documents, including most recently Dignitas Infinita, promulgated by the DDF on April 8.
The reasoning of the Church regarding the issue of IVF and the human embryos brought into being through IVF is that IVF mistreats the dignity of the personhood of the embryos conceived. Embryos are human beings and unborn children. IVF also mistreats the dignity of the biological mothers and fathers of these unborn children and the dignity of the adoptive mothers and fathers because the technology of IVF replaces the human relationship of the marital act between one man and one woman as designed by God for the just and respectful procreation of human life. IVF invites third parties into the intimate marital relationship while exploiting the emotions of couples naturally desiring to conceive and welcome children into their family.
IVF, because of financial costs and the high possibility of failure involved with implanting a frozen embryo within the body of a woman, requires the conception of more than one embryo, which goes beyond the number of embryos that a woman could safely carry through her pregnancy. This places an unfair distinction between implanted embryos and “spare” embryos who are frozen in case they are “needed” as replacements in case of miscarriage.
As the conversation about the morality, legality, and advisability of IVF continues in our courts, legislatures, and public discourse, it is important for Catholics to realize that the Church teaches that unborn children brought into being through IVF, frozen or implanted, are human beings to be accorded the same respect and rights of any other born or unborn child and should never be treated as property. We should also remember that the strong and natural desire to conceive and have children that married couples experience when sadly frustrated by infertility should not be emotionally or financially exploited by the false promises of IVF clinics who incorrectly but sincerely claim that a couple has a right to a child on their own terms.

According to the Fourth Lateran Council of 1215, a meeting held between all Christian communities, it was decided that Jews should be visibly distinguishable from Christians to prevent any kind of ‘sinful relationship’ caused by sexual intercourse knowingly or unknowingly. The council said: “We order that they [Jews and Saracens] of both sexes, in all Christian lands and at all times, shall be publicly differentiated from the rest of the population by the quality of their garment.”
